The Very Worst of Denise Duhamel
This travesty of originality speaks for itself:

It seems more like an experiment. Somehow, it makes me think of the Italian Futurism, but I don't have a rational explanation for such a connecion, it is just a "feeling"...

yes, "no kidding"... that is not poetry...
What is it?
so i'm not a big fan of Denise Duhamel either, but this poem was one of my favorites. i loved how light and pointless it was. maybe i'm just that shallow, but i think there have been worse. and anna's right it did seem like a kind of experiment.
Well, its definitely different. Perhaps that is precisely what she was going for. Whatever the reason behind it, it made me think of the Hannah Montana discussion we had in class the other day (bear with me, I promise it will make sense in a moment). Remember when we talked about passing blame and all the law suits out there? There are so many ridiculous warning labels out there it makes you wonder about society. Perhaps Duhamel was merely protecting herself and all of her work from liability...
Okay, so that's a stretch. You're right, it was pretty weird!
I wouldn't quite call it a travesty of originality. The rest of us probably couldn't have come up with that idea. Duhamel can be strange and silly, but I like that about her. A lot of people criticize her, but there seems to be some merit in throwing the rules out the window (since I'm sure she knows them, given her background).
